Sail Paradise 2012: Brisbane yachtsman Peter Harburg has confirmed he will contest the Sail Paradise 2012 series on the Gold Coast with his latest yacht, the 42ft Black Jack II.
‘This can become one of the biggest regattas in Australia,’ Harburg said after contesting the inaugural series, sailed out of Southport Yacht Club. Click here for more information...

Sabot Nationals underway With the great Gold Coast weather conditions and perfect breezes holding up, today the 2011 Sabot Nationals measurement are underway at Southport Yacht Club’s Hollywell Sailing Squadron. Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2011/12: Gold Coast Australia dominating in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race winning the first 4 legs of the Race. With the Gold Coast Boat expected to arrive at Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast on December 11 along with the rest of the fleet. Chris Percy to Set Sail for Sydney to Hobart at 18: Southport Yacht Club Member, Chris Percy whom only just turned 18 will be the youngest ever Skipper to compete in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on December 26. Son of SYC Vice Commodore Matthew Percy whom will also be sailing in the race aboard “Alacrity” Matt has five Sydney to Hobart’s, 3 of which aboard Alacrity. Alacrity being the only vessel from SYC with a confirmed 97 entered.

Mathew Belcher nominated for the Queensland Sports Star award: Australian Sailing Team’s 470 men’s skipper and member of Southport Yacht Club, Mathew Belcher has been named as a finalist in the 17th Annual Queensland Sport Awards. Competition is tough for Queensland;s most prestigious sporting award with Belcher up against athletes such as US Open winner Sam Stosur and 100m hurdles World Champion sally Pearson.. More...
