This is an opportunity for you, the kids and your mates to come and try sailing on an array of different boats for FREE! Including different classes of Dinghies, Catamarans, Trailer Sailors, Yachts & Blazers.

Coffee and snacks will be available for purchase from 7:30am, with the free sailing starting at 10am, so bring down your change of clothes, and have some fun on & off the beach!


(Small Boat Course Level 1&2)


For Adults 12yr and older. Adult Start Sailing Certificate 1 & 2. This will be held out at our Oxenford Water Sports Centre.

(Keel Boat Scheme)

A good starting point for adults 16yr and older wanting to learn how to sail on Small Keelboats or Trailable Yachts with the aim to sailing on members boats in club events. Held at our Hollywell Sailing Squadron.

When: 16th, 24th February – Book Here (Registration for event closes at Thu 14 Feb 2019 14:00.)

Time:  8:30am – 4:30pm

Cost: $360 for the two-week program, held over 2 consecutive Saturdays.


(Keel Boat Scheme) For Adults 16yr and older


Southport Yacht Club offers a two-week Yachting Australia advanced course under the Keelboat scheme aimed at those wishing to operate their own Keelboat or Trailable Yacht with a crew of your own.

The adult start catamaran sailing course is perfect for those new to the sport who wish to learn how to sail or even for those wishing to refresh their sailing skills and maybe even get into some racing.

If the above course dates don’t necessarily fit in with your schedule we can certainly tailor make a course around your availability with private lessons either during the week or on weekends.  Private lessons are also great for sailors who would like some one on one coaching in their own boats with their own crews, or for families combining juniors and adults on the same boat. Fees are based on an hourly rate, and we have a number of Yachting Australia Accredited Sailing Instructors to choose from, including past National Champions and our High Performance Racing team.  All enquiries please contact the Sailing Office:

BOOKING PROCEDURE: Adult courses are for those from 16 years of age. All courses are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments in order to proceed and early bookings are strongly advised to avoid disappointment.  In the event that a scheduled session is abandoned due to weather alternative sessions will be scheduled at no extra cost, “Catch up sessions” will not be available due to each course being limited.


REFUND POLICY: In the event that a client unilaterally withdraws from a booked course, we reserve the right to withhold all or part of any fees paid.  Alternatively a client may transfer their payment towards another course if we are able to fill their position on the course.  If less than 14 days notice is given of intention to withdraw we reserve the right to withhold the payed 50% Deposit.
