2010 Australian Match Racing Champinships

HOME RESULTS GALLERY TEAMS

Day Two.
A great day for match Racing today with a good 10 to 15 knot northerly providing some great viewing for spectators in front of out Hollywell facility. Racing steped up a gear today with the teams more comfortable with the Blazer 23's and the conditions provided some great fast rides too. As the day went the breeze continued to build at one stage gusting 28 knots on the start boat.
A stand out performance from the team from Royal Yacht Club, Tasmania who sailed through the day undefeated to finish the day on top. Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron is just one point behind and Jay Griffin's Cruising Yacht Club Australia team another point back in third.
The Southport Yacht Club teams of Jack Sherring & Joel Turner also performed well to be in contention both tied in fourth overall despite this only being their second regatta in this format of racing.
With the start of Round Robin 2 tomorrow morning we look forward to some more good racing. Check out the results page for current standings.

Day One.
Today was a testing one for both Race Officials and competitors. Due to dredging works south of the race area, the start boat had difficiculty holding anchor which delayed proceedings. The breeze was a good 10 to 15 knot South south-easter and racing out the front of the club let the teams not racing relax and watch from the shore.
The afternoon saw much more racing with the team from Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron team sharing day one honours after the 11 flights of racing. Both have a 4 wins, 1 loss total with the Southport Yacht Club team skippered by Joel Turner and Ash Rooklyn's CYCA team both on 3wins, 1 loss close behind the leaders. Racing will continue tomorrow.......
