Wines of Winter:

Mawson's Wrattonbully Sauvignon Blanc 2007

One of Australia's finest explorers, Sir Douglas Mawson inspired the world with his courage and heroic feats. Yalumba was proud to be a sponsor of Mawson's pioneering Antarctic expeditions in 1911-14.

The aroma is very fresh; showing snow peas and cut grass. There are nuances of fragrant spice melded with nettle like aromas. The palate of this wine is intense with layers of flavour: zesty citrus and bouquet garni balanced with textures that are flinty and long. It finishes a refreshing crisp natural acidity.

Mawson's Wrattonbully Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

In honour of the winery's historic association with this great Australian hero, Yalumba has released Mawson's, a rich and complex wine displaying generous ripe berry flavours.

Mawson's Wrattonbully Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 displays aromas of dark berry fruits and plummy richness blended with the sweet vanillin notes of well seasoned oak. On the palate the wine shows juicy supple dark fruits before a long and stylish finish with soft plush tannins.
