The Sailing fraternity of the Southport Yacht Club offers something for everyone: from kids to grand-parents, beginners and learn-to-sail students to seasoned racers:
The Southport Yacht Club Sailing Academy is a Yachting Australia accredited Training Centre and offers a range of sailing courses for young and old. Children can have a first go at sailing in our Sunday Funsail classes, School Holiday Camps or Junior BasicSail courses while Adults can learn to sail in the Adult Basic and Adult Better sailing courses.
Regular club racing is conducted in six divisions. These include: Dinghies, Off-the-Beach Catamarans, Inshore, Keel Boat Group, Offshore and Etchells. A webpage has been devoted to each of these divisions which contain information, racing results and details regarding upcoming events.
Junior and youth members have access to regular training and coaching for Fleet and Match Racing. In addition, the Ocean Mentor program offers young sailors the opportunity to get a first taste of ocean sailing and racing.
