SYC High Achieving Sailors Recognition Evening 2018
We joined the performance program when it started last year.
We are 10 and 8 and sail our Sabot ‘Tomahawk’ together as a 2up team. All week we look forward to training days. Since we started with the team we have learned how to gybe properly in higher wind, improve our upwind sailing and mark roundings. Our starts are getting better too but need some more work. This term we are looking forward to working on our boat handling and starts as well as tactics for each leg of the course. Our results since we joined the team are improving too: SQSA Selection Trials Lake Cootharaba 1st Handicap, 4th overall SQSA River Titles at BSS 3rd overall Battle of Waterloo at DPSS 2nd Maryborough Easter Regatta at Hervey Bay 1st overall Our goal this year is to do well at the Sabot Nationals in Manly. We think we are the luckiest kids in sailing to have such great coaches and mentors as part of the Performance Sailing Team to help us be better sailors.
